Learn Women's Self Defence That Really Works

Wing Chun was created by a woman, Buddhist nun and Shaolin martial artist, Ng Mui, about 300 years ago.

Through Ng Mui's vast experience, she created a powerful martial art that could defend against larger opponents without relying on brute strength. She named this martial art after her first student, a young woman named Yim Wing Chun.

Our unique system will teach you the skills of Wing Chun with a focus on women's self-defence. We'll show you how to use principles of physics and biomechanics to defend yourself confidently in a dangerous situation.

Created by a woman, for a woman, and taught by women, we are confident that this is the most effective form of women's self-defence you can learn.

Self Defence Classes for Women, Taught by Women

Our Academy features instruction from over a dozen women with years of experience teaching our women's self-defence classes.

These women bring their own lived experiences to their classes, serving as role models to women who want to learn how to defend themselves - particularly in situations specific to them.

Instructor Grace demonstrates a 'Counter Arm Grab' technique.

Instructor Grace believes in the importance of women learning self-defence from other women: "Women better understand the emotions that women experience in threatening situations," says Grace. "Men have a much different mindset when it comes to self-defence."

"Learning a few basic skills can go a long way in preventing the escalation of violence," says Grace. "Wing Chun promotes good posture and teaches you how to hold yourself, which communicates strong, confident body language."

A Structured Women's Self Defence Programme

We've designed our Wing Chun system to be adaptable to any close combat situation - against larger opponents, multiple attackers, weapons, and even on the floor.

Vlasta demonstrates a 'Cut Down and Punch' against an attacker in a street self-defence scenario.

Our dedicated women's self-defence classes give you the opportunity to learn and apply these skills to scenarios specific to women, such as domestic violence, assault and abduction. These classes also cover deterrence and de-escalation strategies through a structured and easy-to-follow training programme.

If you can't attend our dedicated women's self-defence classes, you will find many other women to learn from and train with in our unisex classes.

[T]he class gave me a super-sweaty workout that combined cardio and strength training, plus stretching. I learnt how to punch and kick properly, and how to hurt someone if they grab my wrist. Hi-yaaa!
